Request:

An import of data records including the existing organizational structure is to be performed.

Requirement:

The user needs the right to create OUs, and passwords and the import right.

Implementation:

In the example here we start with a completely empty database.

So, without forms, passwords, and no OUs in the organizational structure.

We open the backend menu:

  • select Import (point 1)
  • and Organizational structures (point 2).

Now we select the directory where our export CSV file is stored.

  • Type: CSV (remains so in this case).
  • Import file path: where our export file is located.
  • Separator: Use the separator used during export.
  • Text qualifier: Select the one used during export here.

The file will be prechecked and if it can be used with the settings, you will see the green check mark.

Now confirm with "Next".

Now we come to the settings:

  • Organizational Units: In which OU the records should be stored.
  • Tags: a tag can be defined, which will be added to all records.
  • Preview: A preview of the records that will be imported.

Now confirm with "Next".

Now we come to the overview of how the data from our CSV file is assigned to the columns in the database.

If the export was done normally, usually nothing needs to be changed here.

You can change the assignment manually by dragging the column header on the left with the left mouse button pressed onto a name on the right under Assignment.

With "Finish" the import is started.

At the bottom right of the window, you can observe the import process.

When importing the organizational structure, all OUs and local users, as well as users added in end-to-end mode from AD, are imported.

Now we import the forms:

We open the backend menu:

  • select Import (point 1)
  • and Forms (point 2).

  • Tags: it is possible to define a tag that will be added to all records.

Under Forms, the forms are now available with creation date / import date.

Now we import the passwords:

We open the backend menu:

  • select Import (item 1)
  • and Passwords (item 2).

Now we select the directory where our export CSV file is stored.

  • Type: CSV (remains so in this case). A KeePass file can also be selected.
  • File: Where our export file is located.

Here it should be noted, there are several CSV export files. The passwords have been exported in the file name with the form used.

Repeat this process until all password CSV export files have been imported.

Now confirm with "Next".

Now we come to the settings:

  • Organizational Unit: Here you select the OU in which all passwords should be imported.

Important: If you want to import passwords for a previously used OU into this one, the passwords must have already been exported for this OU when exporting.

  • Template: Here you can select a rights template to be applied to the passwords.
  • Tags: a tag can be defined that will be added to all records.
  • Separator: Use the separator used during export.
  • Text qualifier: Select the one used here during the export.
  • Here the first line contains the field names, so we check the box here.
  • Preview: A preview of the records that will be imported.

Now confirm with "Next".

Now we come to the overview of how the data from our CSV file is mapped to the columns in the database.

Assignment of the form fields:

  • New form: A new form will be created for these passwords.
  • Select form: An existing form can be selected here.

In our case, since we have already imported the forms and know which form these passwords were assigned to. Let's select it accordingly.

If the export was done normally, there is usually no need to change anything here.

You can change the assignment manually by dragging the column header on the right with the left mouse button pressed onto a name on the left under Assignment.

Now confirm with "Next".

A message appears and you can finish the import by clicking "Finish".

At the bottom right of the window, you can observe the import process.

All passwords with the Selected form have now been imported into the OU we selected.

When this process has been performed with all password CSV export files, the passwords can be distributed to the OUs and authorized accordingly.
