Goal
You assign permissions to a user on a role in the Web App or the Windows App and add the user as a member of the role so that the user receives the permissions granted at role level.
Prerequisites
- Access to the Web App or the Windows App.
- Advanced User license.
- The permission to manage roles.
Note: You can only grant permissions that you have yourself.
Steps
Note: In the Windows App, the steps are similar. The screenshots show the Web App.
-
Open the Web App or the Windows App.
-
Open Roles (1) and then the role to which you want to add a user as a member (2).
-
Open Permissions.
-
Search for the user (1), confirm with the Enter key, and expand the ribbon (2).
-
Select the user and set the permissions you want by clicking the corresponding button or selecting the checkbox:
- Member: The user becomes a member of the role. Membership is required to receive the permissions granted at role level. Without membership, the user only has administrative permissions on the role.
- Read, Write, Delete, Export: These permissions apply to the role itself.
- Authorize: The user may change the permissions on the role, for example to authorize other users or add them as members.
-
Click Save to save the changes. An icon next to the user shows the assigned permissions, including membership if the user is a member of the role.
