Goal
You configure the automatic cleanup of the Netwrix Password Secure database in the Server Manager so that old entries are deleted regularly. The following data can be cleaned up:
- Logbook
- Notifications
- Session recordings: recorded RDP or SSH sessions that you started from within Password Secure.
- Historical documents
The steps show the configuration using the logbook as an example. For the other data, proceed the same way.
Prerequisites
- Access to the Server Manager.
- Administrator permissions.
Important: Cleaned-up entries cannot be restored. Make sure you do not need the entries for a later audit. Create a full backup of all databases before the cleanup.
Steps
-
Open the Server Manager.
-
Open Database.
-
Select the database you want to clean up.
-
Right-click the database and open Settings.
-
Log in with the administrator credentials.
-
Open Automatic cleanup and activate the cleanup for the data you want, in the example the logbook cleanup.
-
Define which entries are cleaned up after which period (1). For the logbook, also define whether the entries are exported first (2). If you activate the export, specify the path where Password Secure saves the file.
Note: Only logbook entries can be exported. The export is a JSON file created before each cleanup run, so you can archive the data outside the database. The files contain records and the user names of the users who performed an interaction in plain text. User names from records and passwords are not included. Therefore, store the files securely, for example in a location with restricted access.
