Error: Database Not Activated After an Update (SQL Server Older Than 2019)

Problem

You cannot activate the database after an update, and the error message "Database is out-dated" appears in the Netwrix Password Secure Server Manager console.

Cause

Netwrix Password Secure requires at least SQL Server 2019. This requirement applies as of version 9.2.3 and therefore to all later versions, including version 26.x. If the database runs on an older SQL Server version, it does not activate after the update.

Resolution

  1. Check the version of the SQL Server in use.
  2. If the version is older than SQL Server 2019, upgrade the SQL Server to at least SQL Server 2019. SQL Server 2022 is recommended. For details, see the SQL Server requirements.
  3. Activate the database again.

If the database still cannot be activated with a current SQL Server version, create a support ticket.
